Ash St. John is a classically trained musician who began playing violin at the tender age of 10 years old. His life has been mired in music. Playing in orchestras growing up and in the University of Iowa’s orchestra, he honed his skills and became a diverse instrumentalist. He’s even got a day job as music teacher now.
Years of paying dues and playing solo and as a side man in the Twin Cities music scene led him to release his own album, “Dreams Made Real” in May 2014. It found him arranging and playing many of the instruments on it himself. He also developed his signature hooky, melodic, acoustic guitar-driven sound in the process. The drummer on the recording, Alex Young, plays for various local acts and just played drums for Jeremy Messersmith at this year’s Rock the Garden in Minneapolis. Ash St. John has already recorded the music for a new EP entitled, “Under A Sunset” with a tentative release for sometime later this year or early next year.
