Jake Ilika will be concluding his weekly Wednesday night residency at Ed’s (no name) Bar this end of October. You’ve been listening to his well-polished folk tunes and silvery voice on Wednesday for a few years now and more recently with his rock and roll band The Heavy Set. He will be missed. And, of course, the other fine artists he’s brought to town we will miss as well, but we’ll also be happy to see what kind of opportunities are in store for him in those two sister cities north of us. He’s only got four Wednesday nights in Winona left. So, you should be sure to go down, check him and the other acts out, and wish him the best. I finally dug out my old, half-broken HTC phone with some crappy video footage of The Heavy Set in 2013 taking on Nirvana’s “Been a Son”. I uploaded it to The Noisy Neighbor YouTube since Jake’s been bugging me about it ever since learning of its existence. Well, here you go Jake.
