Live @the Levee will hold its second concert and first ever Annual Holiday Edition, December 21st 12-8 pm @Levee Park, in a huge heated tent, where Main Street meets the Mississippi River!
What is Live @the Levee?
A series of free, day-long music festivals held at Levee Park, Downtown Winona.
How did Live @the Levee begin?
On October 5, 2013 a group of engaged citizens working with local officials began the important process of revitalizing Levee Park, a jewel of a public space on the banks of the Mississippi in downtown Winona. Together they decided on a very simple goal: produce a day long festival event including live music, food, family and recreational activities and call it Live@theLevee. The dream was to coax Levee Park back into being the town square, a place for the community to gather
and celebrate that it once was. The first concert was a resounding success, an entire day of music and fun, attended by almost a thousand people, thanks to the generous support of over twenty sponsors and organizations.
When is the next Live @the Levee?
The next Live@theLevee is on Dec. 21st: Our first annual Holiday Edition. Under a huge heated tent we are going to kick off the holiday weekend with more great food, family friendly activities, local vendors for one of a kind last minute gifts, and 8 hours of the best live music around, featuring the String Ties Bluegrass Holiday concert, The Misty Mountain Boys and many others.
What can you tell me about the entertainment?
Our headliner, the String Ties calls the hills of the upper Mississippi home, blending Bluegrass, Old-time Country, Swing, Gospel, and Folk into an engaging version of acoustic music evoking nostalgia, love lost and found, moonshine hills, and sturdy shoes on a barn dance floor. The tight harmonies, powerful instrumentals, (on guitar, banjo, mandolin, and bass), and good-natured fun of this dynamic group have delighted audiences of all ages for more than a decade at parties, festivals, weddings, and everywhere the joy of great music is celebrated. These fans bear witness to “feeling (String Ties’) love of music, the crowd, and each other”…And of their magic to convert: “I never thought I would be a bluegrass fan, but after listening to them, you just can’t
help it.”
The other bands and groups playing feature some of the greatest folk rock, folk, and Christmas Choral groups in the region. There will be something for every musical taste and all ages. Come and celebrate the season in music and song.
